I feel i should warn you reader, that i wrote this note when i was 17 and i matured considerabky since then but i thought this was worth a re-upload. Also, this is the original so be prepared to encounter dozens of typos)
We've always looked upon them with awe, grown wondering how it would feel to be in their shoes, how it would feel to brush lips for the first time against those of a stranger who would from that moment onwards become so much more... I'm talking about the best on-screen kisses in the history of Hollywood both on and off the big screen.
Everyone's got their own select few and here are mine. It would be most appreciated if you could comment on this note with some of YOUR favorite tv and movie kisses.
Enjoy reading..
1. Seth and Summer's Spiderman Kiss:
This kiss takes place sometime in the 2nd season of The OC whence Seth is caught hanging upside down on a rainy day and Summer, who has finally confronted her true feelings for Cohen, rolls off a bit of Seth's Spiderman mask so that she can press her lips to his making this one of my favorite awww moments in soap history.
2. Cinderella's Cliched Kiss:
This kiss takes place at the end of 'A Cinderella Story', the backdrop is the football game and an intense atmosphere where Jimmy Eat World plays 'May Angels Bring You In' as Chad Michael Murray chooses the girl of his dreams over his football scholarship. The kiss deepens and culminates in a rain shower which kind of elevates the mood giving you that queasy feeling in the pits of Ur tummy.
3. Your Nakedness is Brighter than Sunshine kiss
One of the more intense and artistic kisses ever, this one is done absolutely stark naked. Its the scene when AManda Peet convinces Ashton Kutcher to click a pic of the two of them sans clothes. As she convinces him to stand still while the picture is taken, his eyes bear deep into hers and what begins as a soft molding of lips soon turns into a full blown make out session all to aqualung's track, 'brighter tahn sunshine'. Nevertheless, it's amazing and if you've missed it, it's time to see this one all over again.
4. The Only Hope Kiss
Ahhh, yes. For those familiar with the track 'Only Hope' by Mandy Moore will know the kiss I'm referring to. This one's from the movie, 'A Walk To Remember', a heartfelt story about teenage romance and tragedy and all that's in between. The kiss itself takes place in the school drama of which both Moore and Shane West are part of. After Moore's heartfelt rendition on stage, Shane softly draws in and kisses her as the curtains close and you can see both of them still frozen in place trying to take in this momentous event.
5. The Electric Kiss
To add a bit of humor to this 'cheese fondue' of a note, here's a kiss from John Tucker Must Die. Jesse Metcalfe, renowned playboy is being taught a lesson by 3 revengeful ex girlfriends, they're going to break his heart for good, and their weapon of mass destruction is Brittany Snow. The kiss itself takes place between Brittany and Jesse after her house sprinklers go off and the bug planted above her boob begins to malfunction thus causing an electric current to surge through her lips resulting in a 'shocking' make out session.
6. Leopold's Fairytale Kiss
For anyone who's seen this masterpiece of a movie, will remember the date millions of girls wanted but Meg Ryan got. Hugh Jackman succeeds in wooing Meg Ryan on the rooftop of their building that has now been transformed into a magical wonderland by the chivalrous Lord Leopold who hails from the past. The kiss takes place when they are waltzing and the skyline is visible behind them, dancing soon leads to lips brushing against each other as both of them finally molds into one single entity and the scene ends. Now that's magical.
7. The Foot Pop
Probably most famous amongst the female population is the 'foot pop'. Inspired by the black and white age of Hollywood, this act of raising one foot while kissing was brought to modern screens in Meg Cabot's movie adaptation of the Princess Diaries where at the end of the movie, Princess Amelia's (Mia) foot 'pops' as she is being kissed by co-star Robert Schwartzman. While popping she also raises a lever unknowingly which leads to a fountain being set into motion beside them, making this moment truly memorable.
8. The 'I Could Kill You' Kiss
LOL, by popular demand the kiss between Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stuart in Stephenie Meyer's movie adaptation of twilight is a screen gem for several reasons, one, it gives u a Huge idea of how much control the character of Edward must practice when he is around Bella, two, the soft, slightly shaking murmur of "don't move" was done remarkably well and last but not the least, three, the kiss builds up to fiery extremes and yet finds no point of culmination as Edward draws away too quickly knowing that he is loosing control over himself and that he could harm Bella.
9. The Ferris Wheel Kiss
Another kiss made popular by CW's show, The OC, this one takes place between Ben McKenzie and Mischa Barton somewhere in season 1. Here, Ben who is in love with Mischa but is afraid of heights finds himself stuck atop a Ferris wheel with her, as they sort out their differences, he in turn expresses his fear of heights, thus causing Mischa to descend upon his lips in one swift notion. The rest is history.... :D
10. The 'I Got Off The Plane Kiss'
For a FRIENDS fan this was probably the time in the show when you got off your chair and did a little happy dance of your own. This kiss took place between Ross and Rachel in the very last episode of FRIENDS as Rachel finally confronted Ross with her feelings and told him she'd stay with him forever. There was nothing TOO special about this kiss but sometimes its what builds up to the kiss that is more important than ever.
On this note i'd like to add that another favorite 'building up to a kiss' moment i witnessed very recently was in Gossip Girl, Cecily Von Zeigsar's literary masterpiece brought to life in The CW's new show. It took place between Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester in the finale of season 2 when Chuck (Ed's character) flew all around the world to put together three gifts that he would give Blair (Leighton Meester) when he professed his love for her. The kiss that ensued was truly remarkable but I'm afraid doesn't make its way between the numbers 1 and 10.
And just like that i've listed so many of my favorite lip-locking moments, there are loads of others that i would have shared too but then you'd be reading forever, eh?
Till next time,
Ciao.
